What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese healing touch technique for reducing stress, increasing relaxation and promoting wellness. Reiki has the word ‘ki’ in it, which is the universal life force energy that flows through all living things. This life energy is called ‘chi’ in China, ‘ki’ in Japan, ’ti’ in Hawaii, ‘prana’ in India, and science refers to it as ‘biofield energy’.

When your life energy is low, it’s more difficult to deal with stress. You may not sleep well, and you’re more susceptible to illness. Reiki is a technique that increases a person’s supply of life energy, making it easier to deal with stress.

Our energy centers, or chakras, can become unbalanced when we are strained and under tension. These blockages prevent the universal life force energy from flowing freely through us. Reiki clears these energy blocks and helps to promote well-being.

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

An amazingly simple technique to learn, the ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual sense, but is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. This ability is passed on during an "attunement" given by a Reiki master and allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" to improve one's health and enhance the quality of life. Reiki is used in hospitals before surgery to reduce anxiety and after surgery to promote healing.

Reiki is also used in professional sports, for example the NFL offers their players Reiki healing after the game.

Erika Marie Rose is a Reiki Master Teacher trained in the Usui/Tibetan Reiki tradition. She received her training and attunements from SatShanti and from the world-renowned William Lee Rand. Erika has been involved in energy healing for nearly ten years, offering individual Reiki sessions and certified group Reiki training.

Erika is passionate about sharing the healing benefits of Reiki. She is a firm believer that the flow of the Universal Life Force Energy that fills us and surrounds us and every living thing can sometimes become blocked. These blockages can lead to stress and stress-related symptoms, which in turn can lead to dis-ease. Reiki is a healing technique that removes energetic blocks in a person's physical, mental, emotional, and ethereal bodies, bringing relaxation, peace, and tranquility.

Erika holds a graduate degree in Teaching English as a Second Language and has taught at colleges and universities, internationally and in California and Hawaii. Her professional training as an educator is reflected in her development and instruction of her Reiki courses, enabling a deep learning experience. Erika's classes are well-organized, well-paced, with clear communication, and relevant teaching material. She understands that anyone can discover and develop their own ability to do energy healing through Reiki instruction and attunements.

In addition to offering Reiki sessions and courses, Erika is also a sound therapist, holding group sound healings with Tibetan singing bowls at various locations on the Big Island of Hawaii. Erika studied healing with Tibetan singing bowls for two years, learning the ancient practice of using sound and sacred geometry to promote well-being and inner peace to others.

Erika lives together with her partner, Skip, in Puna on the Big Island of Hawaii. Their home is located less than a mile from one of the fissures that opened up and spewed lava during the Kilauea eruption in 2018. Erika and Skip feel very blessed that their house was spared from the lava, and they have created a high-vibe healing space on their property, called the Maika'i Studio, where classes and events are held.

They use all of Mother Earth's offerings by harnessing solar energy for electricity, as well as rain for their water needs. You will find that there is limited cell-phone reception (you're here to "get away from it all", remember?) but there is WiFi available in common areas, as well as other creature comfort modern amenities like hot water and flushing toilets. Many of the structures are open are, and designed to let in the essence of the outdoor surroundings. You will never really feel like you're living off-grid, just more in tune with the rhythm of nature.

This sacred center is protected by new walls of lava rock that surround the property from the recent 2018 Kilauea volcanic eruption. KMECwas only meters away from molten lava rivers, now hardened, leaving it on the brink of an expansive, rolling black lava field. Only minutes away from the coast, this venue is graced with the fresh, salty breath of the ocean and an expansive view of the horizon.
