In this morning's meditation, I saw the close-up image of a stalk of grain waving in the wind with the sun behind it. Then, I heard the word nourish. I understand the meaning of this message to be that just as we nourish our body with healthy food, we also need to remember to nourish our mind and soul with healthy habits.
One way to do that is to become aware of our default thoughts. Where does our mind go to when we let it drift? Does it automatically choose fear, worry, or frustration? Or does our mind go to a place of gratitude, trust, or joy?
I used to wake up in the morning totally grumpy, even if I'd had a good night's sleep. My first thoughts would be about everything I HAD to do, even though I didn't want to do it. I felt like getting back under the covers and not getting up to face the day.
But, I got tired of having a bad attitude right from the start in the morning. I re-trained myself to have thoughts of gratitude when I first wake up, thanking the universe for my good health, my loved ones, my tribe, and for the opportunity to share the light.
