On my walk this morning, my spirit guide encouraged me to walk with my nose. I was asked to pay attention to the scents I encountered along my nature walk.
First, I smelled the sweet fragrance of pineapple. I have no idea where that came from, as there weren't any pineapples nearby. But, I love pineapple, and it always brings me warm, happy feelings.
Next, I smelled the peppery fragrance of a common Hawaiian rainforest plant, whose name I don't know. Wow, this scent took me way back to my childhood, hiking to Waimea Falls on Oahu. Happy days! We'd hike through Waimea Valley and end up at the falls. It was so much fun swimming in the lake there.
Finally, I smelled the intoxicating fragrance of white ginger flowers. Oh my goodness, this is the epitome of Hawaiian flower fragrances! The heady scent of white ginger has Hawaii written all over it.
To me, the message I received is that taking a scent-awareness meditative walk is a great way to get out of my monkey mind (the thousand thoughts that keep spinning around in my head). It takes me into the present moment and brings back happy memories.
