There's a nip in the air. That's the message I heard this morning on my walk. Not that it gets much cooler in the fall here, in Hawaii, but even a couple of degrees lower, combined with a refreshing breeze can make it seem like autumn is in the air. I understand this message as a reminder to pay attention to my senses. In this case, the sensation of a cool breeze.
I love autumn because it brings back so many happy childhood memories. When I was very young, we lived in New England, where the fall is a magical time of year. I remember playing in the magnificent multi-colored forests, the fragrance of apples as we picked them by the bushel, and the smell of new paper in my notebooks as I got ready to go back to school.
The fall was always an exciting time for me when I was growing up. I looked forward to seeing my friends in school again, to meeting my new teacher, and starting the school year with a clean slate.
Wow, that cool breeze on my walk this morning sure did take me back down memory lane! © Erika Marie Rose and Good Vibes, 2019
