We all know the saying, "Every cloud has a silver lining." When I reflect on how that relates to my life, I find a deeper meaning to the saying.
I see the clouds in my life as doors that have closed on me in areas that I was working really hard to create something. For example, I was a part-time ESL instructor at three different colleges for nine years. During that time, I tried hard to become a full-time instructor, with benefits and better pay. I kept applying for the full-time positions (which were few and far between), but never got the job.
After the international college programs, here in Hawaii, downsized and I was let go a year and a half ago, I realized that the universe had something better in store for me. The silver lining of this cloud is that I am now building my own healing business. I love my work, and I'm completely passionate about it. I see how the sound healings, Reiki, classes, and workshops are helping others to grow, and I know I'm on the right path.
So, the teaching career cloud had the silver lining of taking me down the healer's path. :)
P.S. I still teach a few ESL classes every week, but it's all online.
