Branches -- Message of the Day

In my meditation, I saw an image of a tree and heard the word, 'Branches'. As I connected more closely with the message, it became clear to me that my spirit guide was reminding me that we are like trees when our energetic body is in balance.

Just as trees have roots to hold them fast and strong, we too need to ground ourselves to feel centered and secure. Energetic grounding is connecting with our root chakra to the earth. We can envision a long taproot coming from the base of our spine and going deep into the earth, seeing lots of smaller tributary roots spreading out sideways. Meditating on this picture can help us to feel safe and secure, knowing that all our basic needs are being met.

Sometimes the root chakra can get out of balance when we live a fear-based life or when we get into a materialistic mindset. Worry, anxiety, greed, and feeling like a victim are just a few signs that tell us it's time to get centered and grounded to nurture our root chakra.

And just like trees have a crown of leaves that turn toward the light, we too need to connect our crown chakra with divine light from a higher source. The energy is cleansing and purifying and reminds us that we always carry a divine spark within us.

Sometimes, an over active crown chakra is a sign that we are hyper-spiritual, out of touch with reality, and living in a dream world. If it is under active, we can lose sight of the bigger picture, feeling unable to trust in our life.

When our crown chakra is balanced, we feel connected to our higher self and our divinity. We can easily access our inner wisdom, feel connected to others and life, can see the bigger picture, and feel a sense of serenity and wholeness despite what is happening around us.

Because of the ties between the crown chakra and spirituality, a powerful way to balance this energy center is to envision white light pouring into the top of your head, filling your body and connecting you with the world around you. If you only have a few moments to meditate, try imagining a thousand-petaled, white lotus flower over your crown for a simple chakra meditation.
