In my meditation this morning, I saw the image of an exquisitely colored monarch butterfly, and the word I heard was 'beauty'. I understand this to mean that we humans can become more beautiful after our transformation to higher levels of consciousness.
Let's take the butterfly analogy a couple of steps further. In the caterpillar stage, our world is quite small and limited as we crawl on the ground and plants. It's similar to our life before we go through a growth period. Our world is small, and we can't seem to imagine ourselves in a different place.
At some point though, we realize that we've had enough of what is limiting our growth, and so, just like the caterpillar, we need to change. It's amazing just how much change goes on in the cocoon stage of a butterfly's life. The caterpillar actually completely disintegrates into a mass of goop! Doesn't this sound familiar to those of us who have gone through periods of great change? We feel like we have no structure and everything is a mess.
And one day, a gorgeous butterfly emerges from the cocoon, unfolding its great beauty. The amazing thing, though, is that a butterfly cannot even see its beautiful wings. Kind of like us, right? After a period of change and growth, we emerge more beautiful than ever, and we may not even realize it.
