Mana Ola Hula and Reiki Workshop

E komo mai (welcome) to our newest course offering at the Maika'i Studio. We have put together an 8-week hula and Reiki workshop focusing on accessing the flow of universal life force energy ('mana' in Hawaiian or 'ki' in Japanese) to bring more harmony and balance into our lives. Mana/ki fills and surrounds every living thing, but its flow can become blocked in our physical, mental, emotional, and/or spiritual energy body. This can cause us to feel unwell. When the mana/ki flows freely, we feel empowered and in touch with our authentic self. This workshop series aims to support us in clearing stuck energy through hula, chanting, Reiki practice, guided meditation with Tibetan bowls, and connecting with the sacred aspects of both hula and Reiki.

All levels are welcome for this workshop series. Whether you have never tried hula or Reiki, or if you know a lot about it, please join us and enjoy connecting with like-minded people in a safe and sacred space.

Those who have attended all 8 hula/Reiki workshops will have the opportunity to receive a Reiki Level 1 attunement and certificate for an additional $25.

For the Reiki practice and meditation, please bring a yoga mat and cushion.

Please refrain from wearing or bringing fragrances, such as essential oil, perfume, or scented lotion.

We will have a 15-minute break between the Reiki and hula, so you will have time to chat and have some refreshments. If you'd like to bring a snack to share, please do!

These workshops are in-person and online. They will be video-recorded and available online for our non-local participants or for those who would like to catch a missed workshop.

Cost: $10-20 sliding scale. Choose a ticket for $10, $15, or $20, whichever amount you are most comfortable with.

Meet the facilitators

Robbie McGrath -- Kumu Hula and Reiki Master

Aloha mai, I am excited to be part of the Mana Ola Reiki workshop being offered at Maika’i Studio, tapping into the universal life-force energy and the sharing of aloha, reiki, mele, oli, and hula. I have spent the past thirty years immersed in hula and Hawaiian culture and truly love how it has enriched my life. I have been very blessed to have studied under many amazing Kumu. I received my AA in Hawai’i Lifeways/hula from HCC in 2005 and was delighted at the opportunity to teach hula to the international students there for many years until 2019. For the past ten years I have been teaching hula in Leilani estates under the direction of Kumu hula Kimo Awai who uniki’d me to be a Kumu hula in February of 2020. I love to carry out and share his mission of dancing for aloha and world peace with others.

Erika McClane -- Usui/Tibetan Reiki Master Teacher and Sound Therapist

Erika is a certified Reiki Master Teacher, trained in the Usui/Tibetan shamanic Reiki method. An intuitive healer, she is passionate about creating energy balance to promote well-being. She has been teaching Reiki classes for the past 10 years in California and on Hawaii Island. In addition to offering Reiki sessions and courses, Erika is also a sound therapist, having trained in the shamanic Tibetan Singing Bowls method. In her training, Erika studied the ancient practice of using sound and sacred geometry to promote well-being and inner peace. Together with her husband, Skip, Erika holds group sound healings with Tibetan singing bowls at their Maika'i Studio and various other locations on Hawaii Island.
